After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Media Communication, Summer worked in the radio industry as a music DJ & promotions manager at several radio stations, with a brief stint as a talk show host.
Realizing that marketing and the written word was more her thing than being behind the mic, Summer transitioned to product development for a startup company, managed the marketing and social media for a concert and festival promoter and even dabbled in HR & Administration for a boutique marketing firm serving a Fortune 10 client.
After years of very stimulating jobs and not much free time, she now works part-time in a more low key office role. This gives her more time to work on side projects and blog.
When not working or blogging, Summer enjoys staying active and loves the great outdoors. She and her husband Mike like to escape into the wilderness to find beautiful new places to hike, camp, swim, kayak and enjoy creation. If there were an award for taking water floaties to the most remote lakes, they would be serious contenders.
She is also very involved at her church, participating in a women’s Bible study and volunteering with the middle school youth group.
